12 Days of Christmas

I know Christmas has come and gone but I couldn't let it slip away without posting this...

I've heard about the 12 days of Christmas since I was young and I've always wanted to do something for it.  I've been trying to make a "grown up" Christmas-fun and I thought I'd try something new for Dallin.
I got the idea from a few different blogs on Pinterest.  So Brittany and I decided to put our twist on it and make little prints to go with each day.  I colored them with colored pencils and wrote in the specific things I was giving to Dallin.  We also did it so the first day landed on the 24th, but you can start either way.

So here's what worked for me-stick with the number or don't, it's ok either way!  Some days were hard to think of things but we got creative and used times, events, favorite foods or candies, etc. There are so many possibilities.

This was so much fun!  I loved putting the new thing out each night.  Just make sure you have a plan and try and have all the items for each day.  It makes it so much easier that way.

Side note:  This Dashing through the Snow candle by Bath and Body Works is seriously my favorite!  A perfect Christmas scent!  We also love Marshmallow Fireside!

Things got a little crazy closer to Christmas so I only got a few pictures but I'm pretty sure Dallin enjoyed them all!

Here's what I did this year:

12-12 Pack of Coke (favorite soda)

11-11 oz. boxes of Christmas cereal (this was a tradition at his house growing up)

10-10 Things I love about him

9-9 o'clock Naughty Night (This one surprised Dallin! haha I bought a new nighty-they have cute, classy ones at Target for pretty cheap or online HERE.)

8-Dessert at 8 with peppermint ice cream or hot chocolate (He loves peppermint ice cream!)

7-Star Wars Day!  Tickets to the new movie that night and some new Star Wars comic books (His absolute favorite day!)

6-SIX Happy Hippos (another favorite treat)

5-Take 5 bar (his favorite)

4-a box of chocolates just FOR you (another favorite)

3- THREE long sleeved shirts

2-a Christmas ornament to remind us of Our First Christmas as TWO Strong's

1-ONE brand new tool set

Other ideas I wanted to try:  make a gingerbread house, date night at a special restaurant, ice skating, sledding, puzzle, board game, ties, socks, gummy bears, new movie for a movie night together, winter essentials (scarf, gloves, beanie).

Something I noticed is we had a TON of candy.  Next year I will try less sweets and treats.  Overall I thought this was such a cool idea.  Who wouldn't like to receive 12 gifts!?  You could change this for even a family in your neighborhood, a friend or a family member.

Let me know what fun ideas you can think of or have tried in the past!
