Follow the Prophet Primary/ FHE Lesson

I'll be honest I haven't been the best about home church.  Especially when it comes to primary for my little Liv!  One of my goals this year is to make home church, primary lessons and FHE a priority!

My sister and I decided to make a primary/FHE lesson each week!

This last week in Come Follow Me-For Primary we focused on Following the Prophet, specifically on Doctrine and Covenants 1.

I made cute little handouts and treats for each child.  Rice Krispie treat traffic lights with a chocolate topping and red, yellow and green skittles on top.  I cut them to be exactly the right size.  I place them on a cupcake liner and then in a cellophane bag.  Tied it with a few ribbons and attached the little note to tie into the lesson.  I know how to do this part! haha

Working with Primary age kids I don't know how to do so well.  Enter Brittany!  The mastermind of Primary!  She use to be a Kindergarten teacher, currently a preschool teacher and has had many callings in the primary!  She knows what she's doing here!

Us adults cut and glued road warning signs on large popsicle sticks.  We discussed about how each of them help warn drivers on the road.  We had a picture of President Nelson, cut out a Prophet Match Game and Brittany also created a little Follow the Prophet Maze!  I'm so excited Brittany thought of a Come Follow me Journal that we can keep all of our lessons in all year long!

Liv loved it too!  In case your TOTALLY oblivious like me.  Here's what we did for the scheduling!

Sunday-short introductory lesson, Liv is 3 and loves to talk, we didn't cover much and that's ok!  I talked about how we need to follow warning signs from the Prophet just like we need to follow warning signs on the road.  And how these warning signs keep us safe and happy!  We sang a few songs:  Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, Once there was a Snowman, I am a Child of God, and Follow the Prophet; then I introduced the topic.  We played the prophet Match Game and then we watched Sacrament Meeting on Zoom while Liv ate her lunch.

On Monday night = Family Home Evening, we talked about the same things we did on Sunday and then did all the activities.  We played the Prophet Match Game, a Follow the Prophet game-where you hide the picture of the prophet and then give the child clues to where the Prophet is, like saying if they are getting warm/cold.  Liv colored her Come Follow Me front page and did the Follow the Prophet maze.  We talked about the signs again and watched THIS video, I added that we need to follow the warning signs from the Prophet just as we need to follow the warning signs in the scriptures.  Liv had her treat and loved every minute of it all!

I've learned already to keep it as simple and straight forward as possible!

I've also learned that Liv loved every minute we were "doing church" together and it is completely worth it!

So here's to hoping for many more lessons in 2021!

Brittany was kind enough to give us the files she put together.

Moms Deserve Chocolate Love Note

Anyone else scrambling for a cute, useful, fun, Mother's Day gift for their Mom or mothering figures in their lives?  I think this year may have caught me most off guard.  I have been dropping hints to my husband of what I want for Mother's Day but just realized this week that we have Moms too and needed to get something for them!! Luckily there is one thing that is ALWAYS the answer-CHOCOLATE!

A trip to Trader Joe's left us with a lot of fun new chocolate that we can give to our sisters, aunts, grandmas, friends and of course Moms!

I wish I could taste test all of these chocolates but I guess all of the people I am giving them too will just have to report back!  Luckily you can find lots of chocolate items at your local grocery store with pick up and delivery options at this time.  Also Target Pick Up is a dreamy thing!  Use it!

You could always pair this tag with a box of chocolates from a specialty chocolate place.  I miss you Rebecca's chocolates and See's!!  I hear See's is taking pick up orders though and just in time for Mother's Day!! I might want to send this post to Dallin ;)

Side note have you ever had these Toffee Chips from Trader Joe's?  They are incredible.  I had planned to give them to my sister and ate the whole box almost completely by myself!!

Love these mini milk chocolate bars, perfect for giving to friends and sisters!

These Mini Chocolate Mousse Flowers are so delicious and the perfect chocolatey/not chocolate thing for people that don't prefer chocolates.  I don't know many of those people. haha

You can never go wrong with Dove Chocolates or their favorite chocolate candy bar!

I know, I know these aren't chocolates but they make a perfect filler for gifts!  Use a few of these Pink and White cookies to fill a cute little container or box and then use just a few chocolates.  This is a great way to stay on budget and make your supplies stretch!

Mother's Day can be a hard day for many.  It's even a bitter sweet day for me.  You never know what someone is going through or what has happened in their lives.  I'm lucky to have an incredible Mom, but I know not everyone does.  I celebrate my cute Mom on Mother's Day and that I get to be Olivia's Mommy.  I also celebrate the many other motherly figures in mine and Olivia's lives.  Women are so loving, kind, sweet and caring.  I like to acknowledge that!  If you have a sweet lady on your mind this weekend.  Maybe give her some chocolate too-no matter if she has kids or not! :)  That's why I have so many different tag options I have Mom of course but also sister, aunt, grandma and friend!  So it works for all of them.

I found these adorable ramekins at Smith's in their 5 and under bin.  I think it's new!  It was love at first sight!  It was 2 ramekins for $3.

I have a few other Mother's Day ideas here on the blog.  Find them all HERE!  I looked through my archives and am going to do a very special gift with one of them this year.  Can you guess it?

I've learned to not stress holidays.  Even though I want to make them fun and I'd love to be better about planning ahead.  Holidays are just a time to recognize and acknowledge the people you love and admire.  It isn't something that is supposed to be stressful.  So give them some chocolate, put a cute tag on it and call it good!

I always suggest to download the file so you get the exact layout as seen above.

PINK-ing of You! May Love Note

I had a few other Love Notes in mind for this time and hopefully will get them up soon, but I just had to share this one first.  It's just so fun and bright, and just what we all need right now!

Whether if its for a friend, ministering sister, Mom, sister, grandma, teacher, neighbor...the list could go on and on-this tag works for everyone!  Who doesn't love PINK things too!? haha

I've been experimenting with macarons and thought they would go just perfectly together!  Luckily this batch worked.  The stars must have been aligned that day or something! haha

It's amazing what some cute packaging and ribbon can do to any size gift!

I always have a stash of these cellophane bags and a variety of ribbons (thanks Mom!!) on hand at all time just for moments like this when you have someone on your mind and can hurry and whip up a little gift.  These boxes are super cute too and these little favor boxes are so fun!

I made these macarons but there are some at Trader Joe's that are so affordable and delicious!  But wouldn't homemade sugar cookies or a Swig or Crumbl sugar cookie with that signature pink frosting be so cute!

Perfect for any woman in your life on Mother's Day or Graduating seniors in high school or college that are missing their last little bit of their senior year.

The sky is the limit to the pink treats and little gifts you could give!  There are always Good & Plenty, Gum, SweetTarts, Bubble Yum, and Trident Gum.  They even have a full bag of just pink Starburst!  Delicious!!

And don't ever forget the Watermelon Sour Patch candies!  They are so delicious!  It would be so cute and appreciated with just one of these ideas but how fun would it be with a few wrapped in a little bag or box!?

One of my favorite ideas is to fill a little pink bag with lots of pink makeup or purse essentials.  You could go as pricey or as affordable as you'd like.  There are some amazing drugstore options like these NYX butter glosses (Link to Target HERE!)!  They are my all time favorite lip product.  Cute nail polish, blush (linked favorite drugstore option), and pink highlighter (linked drugstore option) would be so fun too!  Oh and a pink eye shadow palette.

Also love these Almay glosses!

I shrunk the tag so you could just give one little thing too.  Fun Washi tape makes it easy and adorable!

Here's a closer look at those Pink NYX butter glosses.  My top three favorite pink shades are- Eclair, Cupcake and Strawberry Parfait!

Or wrap some twine or ribbon around a pink nail polish bottle and you're set!

There are seriously so many awesome options!  I think at this time people need to know more than ever before how much you love them.  Life can be so hard but others can help even just by dropping off something as simple as a little Love Note!

I suggest you download the file before printing for accurate layout and design!

You've been EGGED! April Love Notes

I had a lot of different posts in the works for this year, but with how the world is right now it just doesn't seem fitting.  Something that does seem fitting though is to share love!!  I know we are all trying to stay clean and healthy so these little leave-on-the-doorstep, pre-packaged treats are a great option for this time.

I totally love the idea of "egging" peoples houses and leaving a mini Easter egg hunt for them to find. All you need are some extra plastic Easter eggs, candy and this cute printable.

The wonderful thing about this is that you probably already have some kind of "egg" thing that you can share or give just a few away.

Or help them get a little head start on their Easter traditions and give them a little egg dye kit.

These foil wrapped chocolate eggs are SO good and of course we can't forget about the Dove Eggs!!  But you could do any egg themed treat!  There are so many in the grocery store this time of year.

Or give them actual eggs!! A week ago I was so stressed I wouldn't have eggs for some cake order this week.  I placed a pick up order at smiths and requested double the amount I needed just to be safe.  I got them alllll!! hahaha Needless to say I'm not worried about eggs anymore! Share the love!

Reese's peanut butter eggs are a super solid choice!

Or of course Cadbury chocolate eggs, another classic!

Notice I used all Target links because you can place a pick up order for the same day at your nearest Target!  It's free, easy to get, and you can stay safe and in your car.

March Love Notes Color

Another thing I think of when I think of March is COLOR!
Rainbows, loads of bright-wonderful colors-I love it!

The thing I love about these tag is that these probably out of any tags I've made are so interchangeable and can be paired with SO many different items.

For this option I used Rainbow Twizzlers and chocolate coins in a clear cellophane bag.  Have you tried those Rainbow Twizzlers?  I actually love them way more than regular Twizzlers.

Or even with a little box or bag of Skittles!

Paints, crayons (Livy NEEDS these!), markers (and I need these! haha), or any art supplies would be so fun and useful too!

These Airhead Xtremes are really taste great and look just like a rainbow!

You could even give this to a family and give them a box of fun, colored cereal

Or you could make a batch of a fun colorful treat like these Rainbow/Fruity Rice Krispie Treats or these Mint Chocolate Cookie Cupcakes complete with a pot of gold and rainbow!

I'm not giving the recipe for the Mint Chocolate Cupcakes just yet because I am doing a presale right now for them just for St. Patrick's Day!  If you'd like more info on my little baking business head to @ruthannebakes on Instagram!

Later this week I'll share the most amazing recipe for Fruity Rice Krispie Treats.

They are seriously delicious and the perfect amount of fruity-ness!
